The Global State of Democracy Report 2025: Global Launch Event

As global migration continues to reshape societies, its impact on democracy remains an underexplored dimension. The seventh edition of the Global State of Democracy Report focuses on the intersection between migration and democracy, examining how the political rights of migrants, or the lack thereof, can strengthen or weaken democratic resilience. The Global State of Democracy report has provided high-level, evidence-based trend analysis on democratic performance since 2017.

This year’s edition aims to fill an important knowledge gap: while the number of international migrants has more than tripled since 1970, the implications for democracy have received limited attention. The 2025 report seeks to bridge that gap by demonstrating to policymakers and civil society organizations how migration and democracy are related and providing targeted, actionable recommendations for the way forward. It also takes a close look at voting rights for migrant populations and how these rights have changed over time.

Join us for the live launch of the Global State of Democracy 2025: ‘Democracy on the Move’ Report to explore these findings first-hand. The event will offer a deep dive into how migration policies can become more democratic and inclusive.  Please fill out this form to receive the link via email before the event.
